All traces of Mom are beginning to disappear.

As I cancel utilities and insurance policies,

As we settle her estate,

as her belongings are split among us or given away,

as her house is sold and I drive away

for the final time – I feel both relief that

I have accomplished so much, and

a nagging emptiness that this

chapter of my life has come to its bittersweet end.
