Moving water – one of nature’s most fascinating forces –

Never still, always wandering, looking for the undiscovered.

Drifting, floating, meandering – always searching for new adventure.

Around every bend – uncharted territory waiting to be explored.

Sometimes it ambles, sometimes it moseys, sometimes it hurries.

A restless spirit, never taking a day off, never standing still –

Drifting and footloose – the ultimate vagabond.

Sometimes I wish my mind had a switch

so I could turn it off for a while.

You know, kind of like a light switch –

Click and it’s on when I’m ready to get my day started –

and when I’m ready to sleep – click again and  it’s off.

Now, just roll over and let slumber take me under.

How much easier that would be.

But, then I’d miss those vivid dreams that

Dance through my mind – whirling and swirling –

Dipping and diving – taking me anywhere and everywhere

While my spirit soars and wheels from place to place.

Maybe this restless mind knows best.

glimmer in late day sun –

Blue sky, tall masts – one stands out –

Ruby colored in perfect juxtaposition.

Oh, green canopy of summer

Your emerald veil surrounds me.

Alive with summerness – I can’t get my fill.

You offer shelter to birds, bugs, and animals –

yet ask for nothing in return.

Your shade provides shelter from burning sun

Relief from unrelenting heat…

Your leafy bounty – my treasure.

You have seen parts of me that most never see.

You have seen into my heart, soul and spirit.

You know my needs and what I love.

You have seen my love for nature.

My love for words.

My compassion for people.

My passion.

You have seen what most never see.

Me, simple, yet unfathomable.
